Eagles: 2021 NFL Draft primer with Jalen Hurts as QB1
Top targets for Eagles in 2021 NFL Draft
Target One: Alijah Vera-Tucker, OL, USC
With needs at both guard and tackle, it makes sense to draft a player with positional flexibility. It appears that Rashawn Slater will be off the board before 12, but Vera-Tucker shouldn’t be viewed as a consolation prize; he is a darn good player. After showing high-level play at both guard and tackle, Vera-Tucker can contribute at both positions in year one before he settles into one position when someone retires or suffers a long-term injury.
Target Two: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
DeVonta Smith, the Heisman winning wide receiver and potential Philadelphia Eagle. A three-level threat, Smith is a consistent route runner who knows how to create easy separation. In addition to his nuanced route-running ability, he has some of the best hands in the class; he hauls in some crazy throws that are way outside his frame. A trio of Jalen Reagor, Smith, and Travis Fulgham is a solid wide receiver group if all can stay healthy.
Target Three: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
Jaycee Horn always thinks he is the best player on the field. He talks trash and can back it up with some elite play on the football field. He plays with a nasty demeanor and is one physical player. He likes to use his strength and play aggressively in the face of receivers to knock them off of their routes. Not only is he physical, but he is an elite athlete. He tested off the charts at his pro day and has all the makings of a lockdown NFL cornerback.
