3. Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forest

There has not been a prospect whose draft stock has sunk like a rock like that of Wake Forest wide receiver Sage Surratt. The most recent event that will cause him to potentially go completely undrafted was the numbers he put up at his pro day. As the Demon Deacons took their talents to the turf in front of NFL teams, Surratt may have wished he sat out.

Teammate Carlos Basham also tested that day, a versatile defensive lineman who came in at 274 pounds and ran a faster 40-yard dash than that of Surratt. On the day, Surratt skipped his jumps (leaving us void of explosive testing numbers), ran a 4.7 40-yard dash, and tested in just the 59th percentile in his short shuttle. This came off an appearance at the Senior Bowl, an event where Surratt struggled to separate at all, win in one-on-one situations, and did nothing to stand out.

Even further disappointing for Surratt, this is the only live-action NFL teams have seen from Surratt in a year and a half. Not only did Surratt hurt his shoulder, missing the rest of the 2019 season, but he also opted out of the 2020 season (a move nobody will blame him for).

The lack of recent film, disappointing display in his most recent take to the field, and underwhelming testing numbers leads to Surratt falling down the boards. As the Niners may be looking towards a vertical wide receiver opposite of Brandon Aiyuk so Deebo Samuel can operate as a joker in the slot, there are far better options than Surratt.
