So what are the good things about Davis Mills?

Well for one his size is fantastic, it puts him as a solid starter-level for size. During his pro day, he showed off some solid speed posting a time of a 4.58 40-yard dash. So that mix of size and mobility has teams very excited if they can get him some time and nail down some solid growth in how he processes the game. Mills offers some good touch and accuracy on short and medium routes. The system he played in is comparable to what he should see and expect at the next level.

Coming out of Stanford he will have had an NFL-style level of coaching and a system that can translate to the next level. He should not have an issue in an NFL offense that suits him. This will make him a bit more tempting to some teams over other quarterbacks who did not play in a similar NFL-style offense.

He did not play a ton in college so he doesn’t have the wear and tear, and due to the lack of time any of his negative mechanical abilities should be easier to fix, as he didn’t throw 300 times a year with the wrong mechanics. As the Bears ride out 2021 with Andy Dalton, this could be a great fit for Mills to sit and learn before taking over as a potential stater.
