NFL Combine: Tyron Smith Withdraws From Workouts

The guy everyone wanted to see take the field at the Combine and partake in drills, has decided to not participate in any. USC OT, Tyron Smith informed the NFL that he is recovering from a meniscus injury. Trainers insisted that he wait until USC’s Pro-Day on March 30th, to fully workout.

Smith is one of few to improve his stock by just weighing in. Many had concerns about his weight. He played the 2010 season around 285 pounds. It was thought to believe that if he could get to 300 pounds by the Combine, his draft stock would rise, and he did just that. Not only did he add weight, coming in at 307 pounds, but his height was good (6’5″), and his arms abnormally long (36 3/8″).

Smith has already met with the Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints, and Pittsburgh Steelers. I expect many more teams to solicit his time for interviews, between now and that NFL Draft.
