ESPN has officially set its top 150 prospects for college football recruiting for the 2012 season, a class which is headlined by future Florida State defensive end Mario Edwards (90 overall by ESPN) and the Alabama Crimson Tide (12 ESPN150 prospects among 27 commits).

If there’s any question as to why Alabama is a perennial title contender, let there be no more. Nick Saban is constantly bringing in elite talent and this year is no different.

The new Crimson crew will feature top safety prospect Landon Collins, who is somewhat infamous for his mom wishing he had picked LSU on national television at the Under Armour All-American game. They also added athletes Eddie Williams and Cyrus Jones, wide receivers Chris Black and Amari Cooper, offensive tackle Brandon Greene, cornerback Geno Smith, running back T.J. Yeldon, and a new crop of linebackers in Dillon Lee, Ryan Anderson, Reggie Ragland, and Tyler Hayes to round out the ESPN150 prospects.

Another team that scored big in this class is Texas, who got the #2 overall prospect in running back Jonathan Gray and is one of the “finalists” to sign elite wide receiver prospect Dorial Green-Beckham, a 6’6″ 220 pound kid out of Springfield, Missouri.

Texas is definitely a team on the rise with their recruiting of late, and adding those two playmakers would be absolutely lethal.
