Keshawn Martin, WR, Michigan State “Bracket Buster”

Bracket Buster is a new series I’ll be starting here on with the first pick. What Bracket buster is basically a player profile of a guy I either think or have heard will be drafted much higher than most draftniks have him rated.  That player is Keshawn Martin.

Martin has average size for a WR at 6′ nearly a 190 pounds and good speed. Martin ran a 4.45 forty yard dash at the combine and plays fast on the field as well. At Michigan State Martin was a do-everything Wide receiver for the Spartans-a guy who would run with the football at times, a guy they used a lot on bubble screens, a return man etc. What he wasn’t given the opportunity often is run the route tree so he’ll have to improve in that area.

What separates Martin from other small guys like this is his ability to separate with the ball in his hands. Martin has terrific vision once he catches the football and is fluid athlete-so the potential to run terrific routes is there. Even though he is slender he is a bit longer than most of the undersized speed WR with some room to add to his frame which is appealing.

Martin is generally slotted as a late round guy by draftniks, but there is buzz that N.F.L. teams love him and that he could go as high as the third round.

Keep an eye out for Keshawn Martin in the 2012  NFL Draft he could be drafted much higher than you anticipate.
