St. Louis Rams sign entire draft class at once per Adam Schefter

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the St. Louis Rams have signed all 11 of their draft picks; all today, all announced at the same time.  Earlier, Lamarcus Joyner’s agent had announced that his client had come to terms.  Now, all of their draft is done.

With the nuances of the CBA making rookie slotting so much easier, it made this type of announcement possible.  The player that might have taken the longest to sign would have been second overall pick Greg Robinson, but with Jadeveon Clowney’s deal already done, it paved the way for that contract to be signed.

The overall list of players that the Rams drafted and then signed today includes Robinson, defensive tackle Aaron Donald out of Pittsburgh, Joyner from Florida Staterunning back Tre Mason from Auburnsafety Maurice Alexander from Utah State, corner E.J. Gaines from Missouri, quarterback Garrett Gilbert out of SMU, offensive tackle Mitchell Van Dyk from Portland State, safety Christian Bryant out of Ohio State Michael Sam from Missouri and center Demetrius Rhaney.  The draft included two sets of teammates both out of the SEC; one from Auburn and one from Missouri.

This is a unique situation and a somewhat novel one, but it is something that could be done relatively easily if a team wanted because of the landscape paved by the CBA.  The fact that the 11 picks all signed included the second overall and twelfth overall pick in the first round.
