Former New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts receiver Hakeem Nicks will attempt to reclaim his once-great NFL career. Nicks agreed on a one-year contract with the Tennessee Titans the on Friday. Just three years ago, Nicks was a heavy contributor to the Giant’s win in Super Bowl XLVI and one of the NFL’s best wide receivers.

From there, Nicks had injury after injury and ended up with the Colts and his one year there was nothing spectacular. But the Titans could be getting something here with Nicks as there are some encouraging signs from last year. Nicks played in all 16 games for the first time in his pro career, and he wasn’t on the injury report with a physical ailment all season.

Nicks is also still just 27 years old, he just struggled to adjust to Colts offensive coordinator Pep Hamilton’s offense early last season. However, late in the season, he started to show up, making a few plays when he did see the field. But then in the playoffs, Nicks had a miniscule role in the offense despite Reggie Wayne looking his age last year.

What happened to Nicks in Indianapolis overall is once he struggled with the playbook, he was never trusted. But in Tennessee, they have plenty of time and can make it a priority to get him up to speed. If they do, the Titans would have a good partner to go with No. 1 receiver Kendall Wright, helping the Tennessee Titans’ quarterback out, whoever that may be.
