The New York Giants selected Miami tackle Ereck Flowers with the No. 9 pick in the NFL draft three weeks ago. But they didn’t do that with the idea that Flowers would be ready to play left tackle as a rookie. The Giants saw him more as a long-term upside project whose technique needs some work.

It was looked at as a reach to assume he can step and play the all important left tackle right away. It was looked at as a reach period to many and but now, Flowers may have to be the starting left tackle. Will Beatty is out until November with a torn pectoral muscle and the Giants don’t have another player to put there.

So is Flowers ready for this?
