Can you imagine how many Super Bowls the San Francisco 49ers would have won if the pick Aaron Rodgers back in 2005?

With Colin Kaepernick turning out to be what he is, they don’t need to try to win another game. California Golden Bears quarterback Jared Goff is the next the best quarterback prospect of the 2016 NFL Draft. And yes, I would say he is the next A-Rod if there is such a thing.

What Goff is doing right now is incredible, especially when you look at the talent he has or doesn’t have around him. He’s in the Spread Offense but doesn’t have the athletes Marcus Mariota had to take bubble screens 70 yards to the house. His guys don’t even get a lot of separation so he not only consistently throws the ball down the field but also into tight spots.

His situation isn’t quite as bad as Christian Hackenberg’s is but he’s out there lighting it up. Outside of needing to put on 15 pounds at 6’4″, 215 pounds, he has the traits you want in an NFL quarterback. He has a big arm, accuracy, good feet, mobility, smarts, pocket presence a quick release and he’s an authentically tough man.

He stays calm and delivers an accurate ball when he knows he’s about to get crushed. And with the offensive line California has, that happens the majority of the time he drops back to pass. His accruacy when he’s about to get hit is right up there with Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger and Philip Rivers.

But he’s not a statue back there as he uses those feet to slide within the pocket to avoid the rush. Those pitter-patter feet he has in the pocket are the main reason why he reminds me so much of Rodgers. They have him ready to throw an accurate ball at all times and if you look at his deep ball, it’s more accurate than most of the quarterbacks in the NFL.

All of those qualities were on display Thurday night in a 40-24 loss against the UCLA Bruins. On the night, Goff threw for 295 yards with three touchdowns and he didn’t throw an interception. The 49ers can’t let another on get out of the Bay Area so after the Indianapolis Colts did the suck for Luck, the 49ers need to loaf for Goff.
