Baylor wide receiver Corey Coleman has to be the No. 1 receiver prospect in college now. He took that title from Mississippi’s Laquon Treadwell on Thursday night in a victory over Kansas State. Coleman looked like Percy Harvin 2.0 and if he can stay healthy he’ll be the superstar Harvin’s health didn’t allow him to be.

At 5’10”, 185 pounds he has the same cat-like quickness to go with his tremendous long speed. He uses that combination to get separation on his routes, run after the catch and blow by defenders on deep balls. And don’t let the 5’10” height fool you, he can go up and get one over a defender in the end-zone too.

Coleman showed off every single one of those traits were on full display Thursday night to stay in the Heismann race. He showed his ability to go up and get it on a 3-yard TD pass and ability to run after the catch on a 33-yard play. Then he showed his speed on an 81-yard TD, blowing right by the Kansas States corner and safety.

Along with his two TDs on the night, Coleman 11 catches for 216 yard with the 81-yarder being his longest. On the season, he’s No. 3 in the FBS with 1,178 yards in No. 1 in touchdowns with one. If he continues on his current pace, he’ll end up with 30—three better than the FBS record of 27, set by Louisiana Tech’s Troy Edwards in 1998.

There’s a lot of doubt to whether or not he can win the Hiesman with LSU’s Leonard Fournette as the favorite. But after what Coleman did on Thursday night, there shouldn’t be any doubt about who the best receiver prospect is. The NFL like them big these days but with skill-set being the same as Harvins, there’s nothing to talk about.
