The Cleveland Browns have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL and receiver Josh Gordon appearing to be on his way back. But the Browns could be minus one of those lineman as center Alex Mack could very well be done in Cleveland as Cleveland.com said he was a “lost cause” with his opt-out looming this offseason.

If the former first-round pick, does opt out, he will be as hot a commodity as there is this March. But it’s no longer the slam dunk it was for him to leave the Browns to go play for a better team. With only the Titans picking ahead of them in May, they will get the quarterback of their choice.

So he doesn’t have to worry about knuckle head Johnny Manziel or the old and unaccomplished Josh McCown. There’s also the opportunity to continue playing alongside fellow Pro Bowler Joe Thomas, whom he’s played his whole career with. There might be some sentiment to help Thomas turn this thing around.

And this team is a close as it ever has been right now with Hue Jackson being hired this offseason. Jackson comes to Cleveland as the most sought-after head coach on the market, known for his  offensive mind. Plus Mack seems to be impressed with what the organization has done since he’s been away from the team.

Mack told Around The NFL on Thursday, “I mean, it was good to leave the season, take some time off and let that all shake out. Really happy they got everything handled early and they found their guy. They’re getting a staff together quickly. It’s going in the right direction.”

So Mack has a more-difficult-than-expected decision to make and more than a month to make it.
