New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz is back!

He will be on the Giant’s practice field when the team begins training camp workouts on Friday. Cruz has reported to camp and passed the conditioning test so he won’t be placed on the PUP list. That tells us that he was well enough to get in shape for the season after minicamp.

Remember, there was speculation that he may not be ready for the rigors of training camp this soon. This is great new for quarterback Eli Manning, the Giants, and the team’s fan base. Cruz hasn’t played since suffering a season-ending knee injury in October 2014.

He tried to return last year and we all thought he and Odell Beckham Jr. would light the NFL on fire. But a strained calf caused him to miss the seaon, leaving many to wonder if he’d ever get back. That’s why the team just selected receiver Sterling Shepard in the second round.

Now, the Giants have Cruz back to go with the other two and Manning has plenty of weapons. Cruz, a big-play receiver, had his biggest season in 2011 with 82 catches for 1,536 yards and nine TDs. Opposing defenses around the NFL will surely remember that season this year.

So they won’t be able to focus soley on Beckham, who lit the NFL up for 1,450 yards and 13 TDs in 2015. With all the talent the Giants have at receiver and an improving offensive line, Eli Manning is back. All the additions the Giants made on defense this offseason means the defense is back.

And together, that means the Giants are back!
