The Minnesota Vikings didn’t take long to find a solution to the glaring problem caused by Bridgewater’s sudden injury.

The Vikings agreed to trade for Sam Bradford from the Eagles for a 1st and 4th round pick.

In a quarterback-heavy league, the Vikings fought against the norm claiming an NFC North title with an 11-5 record despite owning the second lowest passing yards at 183 yards a game. With Denver proving defense still wins championships with their Super Bowl victory, the Vikings still want to contend without Bridgewater.

Adrian Peterson is on the wrong side of 30, but another monster season will be needed for them to improve on their surprise 2015 campaign.

With a run-heavy offense, Bradford will act as a game manager, a role he could be comfortable in. Coming off of a year where he hit career highs in passing yards and completion percentage, he has the potential to provide solid talent under center. Both the Eagles and Vikings have similar wide receiver corps but with a far more stable and durable running back in AP, Bradford will find himself much more suitable position up north.

What holds him back from being a capable starter are his turnovers. 52 career interceptions in 63 games shows he still makes mistakes that cost drives and eventually games. After throwing 14 last season he has yet to decrease his mistakes.

In the end, it comes down to a 31-year old Adrain Peterson to anchor the offense.

Philadelphia celebrates with this decision as the move remains puzzling to some. Other options like Nick Foles or Mark Sanchez would have cost much less as the Vikings coughed up a 2017 first round and a 2018 fourth round pick for the mediocre veteran. The Eagles can now focus on the future with Wentz and Daniels.

But the Vikings didn’t want to waste time with their talented roster. If the receiving group led by Stefon Diggs, Charles Johnson, and Laquon Treadwell improve to help Bradford’s play and balance Peterson’s workload; it could be enough to improve on an offense that ranked No. 29 in yards and bottom half in scoring.

The offense will only have to limp the team to enough scoring as the defense dominates on all fronts. Pro bowlers Harrison Smith, Everson Griffen, and Anthony Barr will halt attacking offenses just like Denver did in 2015.

Sam Bradford is an unusual choice but still has a decent ceiling if the right offensive scheme is around him. Time will tell if the Viking’s season will go to waste or keep them as a dark horse contender.
