The Baltimore Ravens already have a lot of injuries for this Week’s game against the New York Jets. So with no chance of winning without quarterback Joe Flacco, they were happy to have him return to practice Friday.

It looks like Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is one step closer to playing this Sunday. He returned to practice on Friday after sitting out all week. He was listed as questionable on the team’s injury report the whole time but no practice is bad news.

Flacco has a right shoulder injury he sustained from Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants. As expected, head coach John Harbaugh told reporters it was “encouraging” to see Flacco at practice.  However, he said it would be a game-time decision for Sunday.

Right now, there is only one game separating the 3-3 Ravens from the 4-2 Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers will be missing their quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, who’s out with a knee injury. The Ravens want to take advantage of every game that he’s out.

But that’s  pretty hard to do when their own franchise quarterback is missing games. Plus receiver Steve Smith (ankle), linebacker Terrell Suggs (bicep) and guard Marshal Yanda (shoulder) are doubtful for Sunday. Flacco not playing gives the team no chance.

The Jets’ secondary is prone to deep balls and Flacco is one of the best in the NFL, throwing it. So with Flacco in the lineup, the Jets’ weaknesses play right into the he Ravens’ strengths. Meanwhile, the Steelers are playing the 5-1 New England Patriots.

So there’s a pretty good chance that the Ravens and Steelers are in a first-place tie after this one.
