Gone are the days of the infamous Bret Farve wearing the purple and yellow. It is now time for the Vikings to set search for his replacement. According to the National Football Post, an unknown source has disclosed that Washington QB, Jake Locker has a private workout with the Minnesota Vikings today.

Since being declared the best quarterback prospect eligible for the 2010 draft, and opting to forgo the draft for his senior season, Locker has seen his stock plummet. The additional year in school gave scouts an extra year to study and scrutinize his mechanics. Locker’s accuracy has been called into question throughout the offseason, and rightfully so. Over the course of his college career, he has never completed better than 58% in a season.

Locker has taken his critics head on, and has used every offseason event to his advantage. At the Senior Bowl, he was inconsistent, never really getting in the flow of things. However, at the Scouting Combine, Locker showed well, displaying good touch, accuracy, and ball placement.

The Vikings could be a good fit for Locker. They have a flock of talent at the receiver position, and a running game that he could lean on. There’s also good veteran leadership in the locker room. It remains to be seen whether or not the Vikings interest in Locker is first round interest or second round interest. Nonetheless, the two would pair nicely together.

UPDATE: NFL Network is reporting that Locker also has workouts scheduled with the Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans.
