Phil Steele’s College Football Preview is the S#*t

Let me first start by saying that this post is not intended to be a promo.  I do not know Phil Steele and I have no relationship to anyone involved with his magazine.  That being said, I wish I knew Phil Steele because his 2011 Preview Magazine (which is more like a book at a magazine price) is awesome! I love reading previews and even though I can find all of the information on the internet I still enjoy purchasing these magazines.

I can honestly say that the majority of the ones written, and there are many, are garbage.  Some of them are clearly written in February and by the time they are published and hit newsstands are outdated and useless.  Therefore over the years I have narrowed my purchases and stuck to the few that I like the best and trust.  This year I heard Phil Steele being interviewed on the radio and I was impressed by his analysis of the college game so I thought I should check out his new preview mag.  When I went to pick it up from the local store I was blown away.  The thing was huge (328 pages) and it was only $8.  That in itself was a bargoon, so I made the purchase.  I went home and I cried tears of joy.  There is nothing that this magazine doesn’t have.  It has analysis of every college football team, conference and player.  It breaks down the Heisman race, prospect rankings and Conference All Stars.  Its is amazing!  It is one thing to pack a book full of numbers and stats that you can find on line, but the analysis was excellent and thoroughly thought out and organized. If you are a fan of college football or a draft geek like me than this is the book for you.

The thing that has impressed me the most is that this is the seventh year that the magazine has been produced.  I am sure most of you have probably heard of it, but for some reason my friends and family must have only spoke of the greatness of Phil Steele whenever I left the room.  I honestly feel like a devoted Christian who prays and attends Church every Sunday, but who didn’t know they can own their own copy of the Bible.

So in short if you are looking for a college football magazine for any reason this year do yourself a favor and grab this one.  Maybe you have already been buying it for the past seventeen years and you are wondering what the hell is wrong with me. Either way its better to know now then never and I am a happy man about my purchase!
