The NFL Lockout is Over: What it Means to This Football Fan

Remember how crummy the last five months have been just having to listen to the term lockout?  Remember the emotional roller coaster ride that we as fans were stuck on daily?  Remember how one day it would sound like it was close to being settled and then twenty four hours later it would sound like we might never see an NFL game again?  It has been an awful ride and if it had continued into the season it would have been a million times worse; trust me.  But thankfully all of this miserable talk of dividing money, listening to lawyers, and trying to understand economic terms that we should never have to hear on sports networks, has come to an end.  Football fans the LOCKOUT IS OVER!!!!

The best part now is that because we survived a five month sentence all of the great things that we missed will be condensed into one crazy month that will lead us right into the season.  From August until the Super Bowl in February, football fans will be treated to non stop football talk.  We will hear from the games experts and not legal analysts.  We will have rookie free agent signings, free agent signings, training camp, and preseason.  Not to mention all of those fantasy drafts that were tentatively scheduled can now remove the word that starts with ‘t’.  Football is back and we as fans need to be ready.

Finally the game is back in our hands and we no longer have to  feel like meaningless bystanders.  We deserve this, so as a fan enjoy it.  You know the saying “you don’t always know how good you have it until its gone?”  Well we almost lost the thing we love most. So treasure it and appreciate it.  Don’t take it so seriously, watch games with your family and friends, and most importantly respect other fans.  Remember that for the past five months we were all on the same team and we all almost lost the exact same privilege- the love of being a fan.

Welcome back.
