Things I Think…

I was much more disappointed to learn that HBO will not be able to produce their Hard Knocks series this year than I was to hear that the Hall of Fame game would be canceled. If you read my post from last month then you already know that I am a HUGE fan of this HBO series. I am still really happy that we will have an entire NFL season, but not having Hard Knocks is definitely a little disappointing.

Bart Scott is my idiot of the week for his comments in regards to the leagues decision to eliminate physical two-a-day’s practices. I understand that Scott is a tough talker and that is part of his game. However, it is time for the macho stigma in contact sports to be put aside and understand that concussions are a really serious issue today. It is time that leagues begin making changes to help cut down on these injuries and I applaud the NFL for having the courage to recognize this need for a change. The “old school just walk it off” view needs to go. This is a problem and good for the NFL for attempting to deal with it.

Fans everywhere who play fantasy football are happy that they can go ahead and schedule their drafts, but
I feel for the fantasy magazines. With free agency happening at such a late point in the off season it seems pointless for anyone to buy a magazine that will look severely outdated come draft day.

I am very intrigued to see how many rookie’s actually make an impact for their teams this year.
Rookie’s often struggle to get up to speed during their first year in the league, but with the feeling of a rushed off season I have to imagine that the majority will be brought along by their coaching staff even slower than usual. Teams who were hoping back in April that their first round pick would be able to help right away might be forced to look in free agency for a back up plan.
