The Philadelphia Eagles look unbelievably strong. I will wait to see how they come together and actually perform in some games before I make any predictions, but if I was looking to place a futures bet the Eagles would definitely be getting some action.

I was dissapointed to see the continued failings of former West Virginia running back Noel Devine. Devine has been one of the most exciting and electrifying players in college football for the past few years. This time last year many analysts- including ESPN’s Mel Kipper- even had him pegged to be a first round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. But after a dissapointing year that saw the undersized Devine battle nagging injuries, the explosive tail back did not get picked at all. Last Tuesday Devine signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles, but on Saturday, after three days of practicing he left the team. Some have speculated that Devine was not interested in competing for a place on the Eagles roster. I love Devine and I really had hoped that he would prove the neigh sayers wrong and become a solid scat back at the NFL level. However, it is starting to look like Devine’s career could be over before it even got started. A very dissapointing twelve months to say the least for a player who was once perceived to be a prized prospect.

If Bill Belicheck can motivate Albert Haynesworth and get him to play up to his ability then the Patriots will be extremely scary. A defensive line that contains both Haynesworth and Wilfork will surely keep opposing offensive coordinators up at night.

For once Brandon Marshall needs to be applauded for something he is doing off the field. His press conference yesterday where he admitted to dealing with borderline personality disorder was brave and inspiring. Marshall has made many off field mistakes since entering the league five years a go and his admittance to battling BPD shouldn’t excuse his behavior. But coming out and not only admitting he has issues, but facing them head on will only help others deal with similar problems. Good for Brandon Marshall.
