NFL Changes I’d Like to See

There is no shortage of ideas on how to make the NFL better. Unfortunately, a lot of them involve major rule changes or changing the game in some fundamental way. Here are my three ideas for improving the league without affecting the game play that we all know and love:

1. Always spot the ball on a yard marker and eliminate the chain gangs

Players in the NFL are bigger and faster than ever before. There are 22 of these players flying around every play and we expect the officials to be able to spot the ball to the exact inch where it ended up? It’s just not possible. Once the ball is spotted, the chain guys have too look out across the field – at least 25 yards away – and mark that same spot on the sideline. And when a play ends near the down marker, the whole process is repeated.
