Before we analyze the Seahawks for the upcoming season, let’s first look back at the 2010-11 campaign. In the first season under new head coach Pete Carroll, the Seahawks became the first team in the wild card era to win their division and make the playoffs with a losing record. This made for great fodder for the sports media as experts and fans alike debated whether a team with a losing record should be allowed to participate in the postseason and if the NFL should amend its rules to prevent such an occurrence from happening again. The Seahawks at 7-9 not only made the playoffs but as a result of winning their division they got a home game against the defending Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, who were a wild card team with a record of 11-5. Given almost no chance by the national media, the Seahawks validated their spot in the postseason by beating the Saints, a game that featured one of the more memorable plays in recent playoff history – the earthquake-causing run by Marshawn Lynch that saw him break multiple tackles on his way to an epic touchdown. The Seahawks took that momentum into the Windy City for a matchup with the Chicago Bears, a game they came up short in, ending their season. Where does that leave them now?
