Some things to notice:
Boise State ranked in the top 5: The smurf turf is finally getting some preseason love. While it is just the preseason, a top 5 ranking sets Boise up to make a run at a national championship if they run the table.
USC & West Virginia make it on/Texas and Penn State get the boot: While you are truly splitting hair when it comes to figuring out the last 2 teams in and 2 teams out of the top 25, the bigger story is the history of these programs. Not long ago, these schools represented four of the most dominant programs in the country. Now, they all are fighting to be in the same conversation as our little blue friends from the Midwest.
Ultimately it is just the preseason and these rankings mean very little until after the first few weeks of football. Stay tuned for updates throughout the season as well Withthefirstpick’s top 25.
