Game Balls
Offense
Cam Newton – 422 yards passing 3 total TD
Tom Brady – 517 yards passing 4 TD
Defense
Brian Urlacher – 10 tackles (led team), 1INT, 1 fumble recovery returned for a TD
Special Teams
Ted Ginn – Ginn returned a punt and a kickoff for a touchdown. Both came at the end of a close game, and sealed a 49er victory.
Goat of the week
Tony Romo – after the game Romo took the blame for the Cowboys loss, and he was right in doing so. Romo’s hot and cold play is becoming old for Cowboy’s fans. He needs to perform at a much higher level and eliminate the mental mistakes if he wants to be a successful player in this league.
Storylines to look for in week 2
Cam Newton leads the Carolina Panthers in their home opener against the Green Bay Packers. Can Newton repeat his record performance but come out with a win in week 2? This will be a much tougher task, and Cam could face a huge reality check against the Packers D.
Will the Lions front 7 dominate again? Facing a bad Kansas City team can the Lions take Jamaal Charles out of the game and force KC to play a one-dimensional game? If so look for the Lions to win, and win big.
Look for the scoreboard to light up in a big way when the Patriots travel to San Diego. The Patriots will pick up their second road win before heading north to face Buffalo week 3.
