Rams Already Luck-ing Out

Reports are coming in today that Colts owner, Jim Irsay, has already made up his mind on selecting Andrew Luck. No need for for a combine, no need for his Pro Day at Stanford. Just write up the contract and make the Colts  jersey for Luck to hold up with Roger Goodell in April. Of course there are winners and loser of this decision.

The Rams yet to be named GM must be doing cartwheels because the Rams number 2 selection just became the hottest thing since sliced bread. Multiple teams are smiting over RG3 and with the Browns lurking with the number 4 pick, any team wanting RG3 (Dolphins, Redskins, Seahawks) is going to have to trade up with the Rams to get him. The Rams have plenty of needs so trading down makes perfect sense. Resign Lloyd, hope for Blackmon, mix in a healthy Bradford and S Jax and the Rams O could be on to something.

As far as Colts legend, Peyton Manning, the writing is all but on the wall. Rumors are swirling that his neck isn’t healing and he has only ”tossed around” a football. It is hard to blame the Colts for being ready to move on and end its long time relationship with number 18. Luck is NFL ready and could lead the Colts for the next 10+ years. It could also mean the end of Reggie Wayne and Jeff Saturday in Indy but when you have to rebuild, you have to rebuild.

So with 2011 not even over yet I think it is time to prepare for a 2012 NFL world. That world is shaping up to have Luck in a Colts jersey, RG3 in a Dolphins jersey (my wish) and Peyton Manning in a Redskins jersey. The Rams, Panthers and Bengals will be in the playoff hunt. And hopefully Rex Ryan will stop running his mouth (no way that happens!).
