Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson May Go Pro
According to Joe Schad Arkansas QB Tyler Wilson may still go pro, and if he does it could definitely be the right move.
QB Tyler Wilson of Arkansas is also still considering the NFL draft
The Redshirt Junior is coming off a pretty good season, with these numbers:
G | Att | Comp | Pct. | Yards | Yards/Att | TD | Int | Rating | Att/G | Yards/G |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
13 | 438 | 277 | 63.2 | 3638 | 8.3 | 24 | 6 | 148.35 | 33.7 | 279.8 |
Wilson doesn’t have ideal height at 6’3, but he has enough height and has a big arm. Wilson does a good job with ball placement, but needs to continue to work on his anticipation. The thing that I love about Wilson is his toughness. He is the anti-Landry Jones where there is a pass rusher coming at him fast, he’ll stand in the pocket and deliver the ball down the field. Now, Wilson has tremendous talent surrounding him at wide receiver, so some of his success could stem from that, but he has more than enough ability to be a high round selection.
If he were to enter the draft right now, especially with the recent news that Ryan Tannehill may need foot surgery, he could easily become the third best quarterback in this draft class behind Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin. Likewise if he were to return he’d be competing with Tyler Bray, Matt Barkley, and Aaron Murray for the top qb spot next year as of today.
I think Wilson could use another year of seasoning, but the draft could also be a lot more exciting with him the class as well. Our initial scouting report for Wilson is here
