Oklahoma Sooners Defensive coordinator Brent Venables is in talks with Clemson
Those OU sources said they believe the Clemson job is there for Venables to accept or turn down. Instead of an interview, Clemson officials were reportedly trying to convince Venables to take the job.
“He is visiting with them,” a source said. “He’s not interviewing. They’re trying to get him.”
The sources couldn’t confirm reports that also had Venables meeting Friday night in San Antonio with Clemson coach Dabo Swinney before flying to the school Saturday.
NCAA will change the stipend proposal
(AP) INDIANAPOLIS — The NCAA Division I Board of Directors still believes scholarship limits should be expanded.
It just wants time to work out the details.
In a surprise move Saturday, the board delayed implementation of a $2,000 expense allowance, opting instead to ask the working group to make a modified proposal in April.
“What I heard was the board’s resolve with the concept (of the miscellaneous expense allowance) and moving forward with it, but giving us a chance to work out concerns of the implementation,” said Middle Tennessee State president Sidney McPhee, who chairs the subcommittee that made recommendations Saturday.

QB is no Rockie: Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson told the Colorado Rockies he will play in the NFL rather than stay in their farm system.
A transfer from North Carolina State, Wilson was the Badgers’ first QB to throw for at least 3,000 yards in a season.
Secondly Florida Running back Jeff Demps has decided to quit football to pursue the 2012 Olympics in track of field.
