Today the world got a look at some of the top prospects for this year’s draft in the Senior Bowl. The Senior Bowl levels the playing field by putting some of the nation’s best senior prospects in one game together. Every year a number of first round picks star in the Senior Bowl, and this year was no exception. Here are some of my notes from the game.
- Quinton Coples is a beast, and is clearly the top defensive end. Coples has great size and strength and gave tackles fits all day.
- Cincinnati RB Isaiah Pead was the breakout RB of the day. Showed great vision and also return ability. Pead finished as the game’s MVP
- The quarterbacks as a whole were underwhelming. Brandon Weeden was the best, but regressed as the game went on throwing two picks.
- Wisconsin QB Russell Wilson showed great mobility but failed to make difficult throws when it mattered.
- San Diego State QB Ryan Lindley had a strong arm but struggled with accuracy
- Boise State QB Kellen Moore was the most disappointing player in this game. Moore struggled with basic throws, and handling pressure in the pocket.
- Arkansas WR Joe Adams showcased good route running, hands, and impressive speed. Adams had six catches for 116 yards and received the Most Outstanding Player for the South team.
- Utah State LB Bobby Wagner was the Most Outstanding Player for the North team with seven tackles and an interception.
