Scouting Report

Massaquoi is a solid defensive end/outside linebacker prospect who has a good arsenal of pass rush moves. He is obviously an undersized defensive end, and will likely play in a 3-4 scheme at the NFL level. Solid hand placement and knows how to use his size to gain leverage against tackles. Able to dominate far lesser competition at Troy and one of the knocks on him will be his age (24) coming out. I think he has some upside as a situational pass rusher at the next level. A good athlete with a bunch of good moves, but he doesn’t always give consistent effort, likely a result of his far superior ability to a majority of the tackles he went up against. Good quickness and explosiveness off the ball, but struggles to hold up against the run due to the fact that his game is all about speed, and when he gets locked up with a lineman, he tends to struggle.

Bottom line

I think Massaquoi can be an Antwan Barnes type of player, an undersized linebacker who can make plays in terms of his ability to rush the quarterback, but I don’t really see him as an every down player in the NFL.
