St. Louis Rams 2012 Mock Draft Post-Trade First Three Rounds

Now that the St. Louis Rams have traded for a million draft picks so the Redskins can take Robert Griffin III, I think it is appropriate to make a new St. Louis Rams mock draft.

1. First Round, 6th overall: Justin Blackmon, WR, Oklahoma State

The Rams get a solid #1 receiver prospect who has been compared to Anquan Boldin. Blackmon showed great speed at his pro day, and we know he is a legitimate top receiver prospect. I think this is still too high for him to go, but the Rams are slightly desperate and they have three picks in the top 40.

2. Second Round, 33rd overall: Alshon Jeffery, WR, South Carolina

The Rams have a ton of needs, but making Sam Bradford the best he can be is the most important. I think drafting two big name guys, and especially getting a player of Jeffery’s caliber could be huge at this point. If he’s still available at the end of the first round, I think the Rams will have to be considering taking a hard look.

3. Second Round, 39th overall: Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson

The Rams have aging defensive tackles and Brandon Thompson is a first round talent who would be good value in the early portion of the second round. He’s a big, athletic gap clogger who is more of a run-stuffer, but the Rams already have two talented pass rushers on the edges. This could be a really solid pickup for the Rams.

4. Third Round, 66th overall: Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech

The Rams could use help at the cornerback position, and Hosley is a playmaker with great speed who could be really good value in the third round. I think this would help fortify a big position of need for St. Louis defensively.
