2012 NFL Draft Position Previews: Specialists

Three Studs

1. Bryan Anger, P, California

Three straight years, Anger was named 1st team All-Pac 12 (Pac 10) and he is one of the best punter prospects in the draft. He is such a valuable weapon that he is considered a potential third or fourth round pick. If a team is desperate enough for a punter, they could make a move on the star from Cal.

2. Blair Walsh, K, Georgia

There are not a ton of teams with needs at the kicker position, but they are extremely valuable in the NFL. With games seemingly coming down to the wire almost every week, a guy like Walsh is going to be critical for a team to have. He could probably be had with a seventh round pick, maybe even as an undrafted free agent but I’m sure that Walsh will catch on somewhere and be kicking in 2012.

3. Brandon Boykin, KR/PR, Georgia

Boykin is one of the most dynamic return specialists in the country. The only thing you need to know is this: He is the Georgia leader in kick return yardage for a career at 2,663 yards, and he is the only player in SEC history with three plays of more than 100 yards. Dynamic, like I said.
