Florida State WR Kelvin Benjamin Ready to Turn Heads in 2012?
Florida State possesses a weapon in the passing game unlike anything you’ve ever seen before. Redshirt Freshman wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin is 6’5″ and a whopping 242 pounds, and head coach Jimbo Fisher says he is in great shape.
This kid apparently runs in the 4.4 range and with that kind of size and speed, he could be poised to dominate.
He spent last year redshirting and getting to know the team and offense a little bit better as he prepares to be one of the go-to targets in an offense full of playmakers. In fact, FSU loses only eight players from its two-deep depth chart from a year ago, which is extremely impressive. They are going to be virtually the same team and should be competing for a national title.
If that’s going to happen, you have to think Benjamin will be a huge reason why. Literally.
This is a guy who is gaining national attention and pretty much every major analyst is predicting he will have a breakout year. Can you blame them? He was only the number eight receiver in the country coming out in 2011, but it appears as though he has outgrown that ranking already.
I am going to try to dig up more on this guy, but from what I can see, he looks like he could emerge as a star. That number ‘1’ looks like it’s going to disappear on Benjamin’s massive body. This guy has unreal size for a receiver and I cannot wait to see him play this season.
