Illinois DE Michael Buchanan Suffers a Broken Jaw in Altercation

Another day, another athlete who can’t keep his nose out of trouble.

I suppose I’ll have to give Illinois defensive end Michael Buchanan the benefit of the doubt at this point, but the first round hopeful was involved in an altercation in which he broke his jaw. Illinois coaches are still not exactly sure how the injury occurred, but they are looking into it and expect Buchanan to be ready for preseason camp.

This injury/altercation is potentially a big blow for Buchanan’s NFL Draft prospects. He is a fantastic talent who is projected to be a breakout player in 2012, but NFL teams will have to do some digging into his past if this indeed turns out to be a character issue.

Hopefully Buchanan is able to get healthy soon from such an awful injury.
