Gholston’s Disappearing Act

Michigan State defensive end, and projected top NFL prospect, William Gholston struggled to make any impact in their season opener against Boise State.

Gholston’s physical potential, based around his lengthy 6’7” frame, and athleticism put him on the watch list for many scouts this season.

However, Gholston’s statline for the game sets a very bleak tone for the start of his money-making season: zero tackles, zero tackles for loss, zero sacks, one pass deflection, two penalties.

The Gholston family tree may want to explore a theatrical career featuring disappearing acts. William’s cousin, Vernon Gholston, was defined by this after registering a whopping zero sacks while with the New York Jets after being drafted with the sixth overall pick.

Gholston’s appearance and athleticism may make him noticeable off the bus, but he needs to stay visible after the ball is snapped.
