Jacksonville Jaguars sign second round pick Allen Robinson

The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced the signing of second round pick Allen Robinson.  The former Penn State wide receiver was picked along with Marqise Lee in round 2 to bolster a receiving corp that has talent in Cecil Shorts III, but needed a good amount of help with the disappointing situation with former first round pick Justin Blackmon.  Lee and Robinson were drafted along with Blake Bortles, the third overall pick of the draft to build Gus Bradley’s offense in Jacksonville.

Last year, the team drafted Luke Joeckel to be their left tackle and found what could be their long term right tackle in Austin Pasztor.  They also signed Zane Beadles to play one of their guard spots, so the transformation into what Bradley and general manager David Caldwell is starting to take shape.

Robinson is still a little raw and a terrific athlete that is great from the waist down as a receiver, but needs to get more refined and better from the waist up.  Some of this ranges from how he frames the ball to body positioning.  Robinson has shown he can make some spectacular play but with more technique, he could up the percentage he is able to bring that element to their offense.  Bortles is scheduled to sit this year and if Robinson can develop, both could hit the ground running along with Lee and Shorts next year, giving the Jaguars a dynamic passing attack.
