Packers WR Jared Abbrederis has a torn ACL, will miss the season

The Green Bay Packers will be down one of their three draft pick wide receivers as Jared Abbrederis has a torn ACL, which he confirmed.  Abbrederis, one of the team’s fifth round picks and a local product out of Wisconsin, will miss the entire season and will be placed on injured reserve.  The team also drafted Davante Adams as well as Jeff Janis in an attempt to bolster their receiving corp after losing James Jones.  The Packers have had a rough track record with injuries the past few years and been able to survive and absorb them, even winning the Super Bowl with a long list of players on injured reserve, which unfortunately starts now for them.

Abbrederis had a small chance to come in and contribute as he was an effective route runner who understood how to get open.  Combining that with Aaron Rodgers and his ability to find receivers, there might have been an opportunity for him to help early.  Unfortunately that will have to be postponed until next year.  The only small silver lining is that Abbrederis tore it this early, which will make it so he can be ready to go for training camp next year, pending any setbacks in his rehabilitation.
