Notable Games

  • Florida

Despite Florida’s fourth ranked run defense last year, Gurley was still able to carve up the Gator’s defense for 100 rushing yards and a touchdown on the day. Gurley wasn’t done, though, as he also put up 87 yards receiving (thanks to a 73 yard reception) and a touchdown.

  • South Carolina

Gurley had his second best outing of the year against a Gamecock’s defense that allowed just over 120 rushing yards per game in 2013, good enough for the 17th best mark in the nation. It will be interesting to see if Gurley can match his 132 yard effort from last year again in 2014, except with hopes of him averaging more than 4.4 yards per carry against this year’s version of the team.

  • Auburn

Gurley was held under 100 rushing yards six times last season with one of the times was against the Auburn Tigers in a 43-38 loss. He will be looking to lead his Bulldogs over the defending SEC champs, this time at home.

System Fit

Due to his exceptional ability to pound the ball between the tackles, Gurley is going to fit best in the NFL as a featured back in a power run offense. He is excellent on designed runs in the A and B gaps, possessing the physical running style and vision necessary to be successful at the next level. As mentioned earlier, he has good speed but the team that selects him will want to have a scatback at their disposal for change-of-pace situations.

Draft Projection

Based on 2013 tape: Bottom of 1st round/early to mid 2nd

With improvement in key areas: Solid 1st round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft
