Texans Jadeveon Clowney reportedly suffers sprained MCL
By Peter Smith
The Houston Texans received some bad news when first overall pick Jadeveon Clowney had to leave the game early due to a knee injury. According to Albert Breer of NFLNetwork, that knee injury is a sprained MCL. Since Clowney was drafted, he has shown flashes of unbelievable talent but this is already the second injury of his young career. After needing hernia surgery in training camp, Clowney has yet another setback and this one could cause him to miss a decent amount of the season.
A sprain is certainly better news than a tear and should heal fully, but a Texans’ team that has not inspired a ton of confidence coming into the season is now down one of their most impactful defensive weapons. The team has yet to confirm these reports but Clowney was visibly upset and angry when he had to leave the field due to the injury.
The Texans were able to win the game, beating Washington 17-6, but their schedule gets noticeably more difficult quickly. Clowney along with J.J. Watt was expected to be one of the brightest spots on the team. Watt is still his dominant self, coming off of the news of a lucrative contract extension but Clowney is dealing with another injury in his still very young career.
