Leader

From the day he set foot on Florida State’s campus, Winston has been a natural born leader, even when it doesn’t seem like his place. As a red-shirt that knew he wasn’t going to sniff the field, he challenged his teammates during a 2nd-half collapse to North Carolina State. Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher said on ESPN, “He was constantly up and down the sidelines, getting in guys’ face, you would have thought he was the guy.”

Then of course, those leadership qualities carried over to his Heisman Trophy/National Championship year as a red-shirt freshman. And as of last Thursday, Florida State has won 22 in a row since Winston has taken over as the real leader. Of the Seminoles last nine victories, five of them have been of the comeback variety with Winston leading the charge too.

Mariota has more of the meek, quiet demeanor that makes many wonder if he’s too nice to be a winning NFL quarterback. The quarterback of an NFL team is the ultimate alpha male and I’m not sure if Mariota has enough alpha-male in him. There’s no doubt about Winston as he demands excellence from his teammates and so far, always gets enough of it to win.
