Pick No. 3: Marcus Mariota (New York Jets)

With the third pick in the NFL the New York Jets will select Marcus Mariota from the Oregon Ducks. As much is Winston may be a character risk, Mariota is a bust risk as he already has accuracy issues, missing wide open receivers. But bigger than that are the risks that Mariota comes from a spread offense and may not get playing quarterback in the NFL and running quarterbacks usually get hurt.

If Michael Vick does well for the rest of the season and the Jets still pick third, Mariota could be walking into the perfect situation. He could sit and learn the first year or two from a running quarterback and be ready when he name is called. Mariota is a supreme talent but he’s still more developmental than anything when you look at his playing style.
