Dante Fowler Jr. (Florida)

With the 21st pick in the NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select pass rusher Dante Fowler Jr. of the Florida Gators. At 6’2″, 261 pounds, Dante Fowler played defensive tackle, defensive end and outside linebacker for his Gators in college. He has the speed, power and agility to do all of those things but in defensive coordinator Rob Ryan’s 3-4 scheme, outside linebacker is just fine.

Knowing Ryan, Fowler will be used at those other positions in certain situations and matchups as well. But what Ryan mainly needs a player that can come off the edge and bring the heat to opposing quarterbacks. We already know about the Saints offense and getting a guy like Fowler Jr. could give the Saints what they need for a Super Bowl run.
