Makes Defense Better

Williams would come in and make all the pass rushers better with the attention he would draw from opposing offenses. Mack only has only one sack this season but he gets close on nearly every pass attempt by the opposing quarterback. All those near misses would turn into sacks as he is the one getting all the extra attention from opposing offenses now.

I’m not comparing Mack to Lawrence Taylor, the best defensive player ever, but even Taylor had Leonard Marshall as his 3-4 end. Speaking of the 3-4, the Raiders would definitely get some inside linebackers and run it if they draft Williams. Tarver is a 3-4 coordinator, Mack is a 3-4 outside linebacker, Sio Moore can come off the other edge and Justin Ellis is a natural born nose tackle.

Then you have young corners T.J. Carrie and D.J. Hayden that benefit from all the pressure they’re getting up front. It would also help aging-like-fine-wine free safety Charles Woodson and strong safety Tyvon Branch when he gets back. This is how a superstar defensive lineman makes everyone around him better.
