Unlike fellow pass-rushing prospect Randy Gregory of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oakman is about more than talent and upide. Oakman has shown that he already knows how to use his ability as he is tied for ninth in the FBS in sacks with 10. Body types and physical tests are nice but early in the first round, you want to select a player that has shown he can produce and Oakman has done that.

I think the Houston Texans were fooled by Jadeveon Clowney’s freakish physical gifts and overlooked the fact that he didn’t produce his last year in college. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not all about stats but show me where your presence affected the outcome of a game. Along with sacks and tackles for a loss, that’s the most important factor to look at when scouting a player to me.
