In breaking down Marcus Mariota, Super Bowl winning coach Tony Dungy made comparisons between the Oregon Ducks quarterback and Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck. Those comparison are way off, based in hyperbole because Dungy wants to see a good kid in the spotlight. Sure, his numbers are good but many have put up big numbers in college only to flop in the NFL.

Many will think I’m hatin’ but I’m a Pac-12 guy and want to see Mariota win the National Championship. I just refuse to set myself up for NFL disappointment because even if Mariota goes to the Philadelphia Eagles and starts out well, he’ll eventually get figured out and have to figure out the pro game at some point. And that will likely happen soon because he’s not a once-in-a-generation talent as his act has been seen before throughout the NFL.

Mariota has a long way to go and the odds are stacked against him.
