Most Similar to R.G. III

Fans want to compare Mariota to Kaepernick because of the Super Bowl but of all the new-age guys, R.G. III is who he compares to most. They list Mariota at 6’4″, 220, but that’s with 10 rolls of nickels in his pocket because he is slight of build like R.G.III. It might have been R.G. III that made Eagles coach Chip Kelly go to the NFL as the world-class sprinter seemed unstoppable and to be changing the game as a rookie.

Mariota isn’t as fast or elusive as R.G. III was but after the injuries, R.G.III’s trying to learn how to play from the pocket. So it’s foolish to think that even with Kelly, he can succeed while staying the way he is. And as a passer, R.G. III has better arm talent than Mariota but now that he has to stay in the pocket, he’s struggling with progressions.

That’s going to be the main thing the Mariota Struggles with has he doesn’t feel comfortable staying in the pocket long and will take off when read No. 1 isn’t there. Playing that way, he will succeed for a short period of time then injuries are inevitable as it is now sad to see R.G. III try to run.
