What I see
What I see in Gurley is much of the same as what the personnel world sees in this special back. His peripheral vision is uncanny and he is with a few others that have brought back the lost art of cutting back. A good portion of his big runs come from when the defense over-pursues then Gurley plants his foot and takes it back across the grain.
And yes, the speed and power is more than obvious while his heart-of-a-lion drives him to run angry. As far as comparisons go, Lynch is a pretty good for his vision and Lewis for the size to speed ratio. But he’s a little more athletic than they are and liken him more to Peterson because of that speed.
Speaking of Peterson, he tore an ACL himself and was back to rush for over 2,000 yards and the NFL MVP the next year. He tore his ACL and MCL at the end of December and was running hills four months later. Gurley is the same kind of freak, only tore his ACL and had his injury in mid-November so I’m expecting the same kind of recovery.
