Round, 3: Jesse James
The Raiders need themselves a freakish tight end so their blocking tight end and pass-catching tight end can be the same man. And Penn State Nittany Lions tight end Jesse James is freakish as he is 6’7″, 272 pounds and as athletic as all get out. He is reported to have run a 4.6 40 and bench pressed 225 pounds a whopping 27 times.
Penn State strength coach Dwight Galt told Josh Moyer of ESPN, “He’s a freak… Athletically, talent-wise, there’s not another tight end in the country better than him, for sure. He’s got speed, he’s got strength, he’s got agility, he’s got size, he’s got everything. Most draft projections have him available in the fourth round but after the combine, it will be the third.
