Round, 7 Trey DePriest

This draft is based on the Raiders running the 3-4 to fit outside linebacker Khalil Mack’s strengths. So after the Raiders pick up their inside linebackers in free agency they go for depth with their last pick. Del Rio doesn’t play that, especially when it comes to his defense so linebacker Miles Burris won’t see the field unless by some miracle he gets it all of the sudden.

As a matter of fact, we’re going to see a lot of McKenzie’s guys either off the team or in lesser roles. Del Rio has some pull over who’s going to be on the roster as McKenzie’s power has diminished after going 11-37 through three years. So the Raiders will pick Trey DePriest in round seven for depth at the inside linebacker position.

As we saw last year, inside or middle linebacker isn’t where you want someone that doesn’t know how to play the position. I’m not blaming this on Burris, who tried his best—that’s on the Raiders hierarchy for putting him in that spot. Burris can now go to outside linebacker as a backup where he belongs.
