Bottom Line
The NFL personnel world likes to compare prospects to players in the league to make them feel safe. And that makes sense because if you know what you’re getting, you know how to plan to use him. So Aldon Smith is the guy in the NFL that the personnel world likens Gregory to the most.
Along with all the height and length, he’s an amazing athlete as I’ve seen him hurdle a blocker en route to sacking Miami Hurricanes quarterback Brad Kaaya. You can do anything with him as I’ve seen him line up inside at tackle, the edge with his hand in the dirt and standing up. He’s been dropped in zone-coverage and I’ve seen him cover backs and tight end one-on-one.
His defensive coordinator, John Popuchis, told USA Today of Gregory’s versatility and athleticism, “I don’t think I’d put him at corner. That would be a little scary. We have to move him around and be creative with him. There’s a lot he can do because he’s so athletic. He’s smart and can process a lot of information.”
Being athletic, smart and having a high motor, what’s not to like about Gregory?
