Bottom Line
The comparison :Shelton draws most in the scouting world is to New England Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork. But I see him more in the mold of Baltimore Ravens defensive lineman Haloti Ngata. Yes, Ngata and Shelton have more in common than the fact that they are both products of the Pac. 12.
And interesting enough, the only one I call draft expert, Mike Mayock, sees Shelton the same way I do. He said on NFL Network and NFL.com, “He [Shelton] reminds me of Haloti Ngata. When you put the tape on, he’s quick. He gets up and down the line of scrimmage and plays forever and 350 pounds. If he takes care of business between now and May 1st, I think he’s a top 10 pick.”
And the way he’s reported to be killing it at Senior Bowl Week, that just might be the case.
